Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
